Preserve Concept

Located on the edge of Jack’s Point Golf Course, the setting features a large wetland of New Zealand native flora which runs the length of the site. The concept for the family home was to cantilever the house out over the wetland. The design would make the most of the stunning views towards Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables, while providing shelter from the cooler winds sweeping off the lake.

Katrina and Alister did an outstanding job designing our house for us; we liked their design philosophy and, in working through the design, we felt they struck a pleasant balance between aesthetic goals and practical and budgeting requirements for the home.

Clad in in-situ concrete, schist stone with features of painted steel and cedar, the Preserve Concept also incorporates a number of outdoor courtyard spaces, sympathetically designed around the natural schist outcrops in the land.
